Erwin Klein on Heinrich Heine: Die Harzreise
Erwin Klein on Heinrich Heine: Die Harzreise
An event in English language
Erwin Klein followed Heinrich Heine and his hiking tour through the Harz mountains.
Exactly 200 years ago, a young poet started a hiking tour from Göttingen through the Harz mountains. He walked to Osterode, Clausthal-Zellerfeld, Goslar, Harzburg, up the Brocken, and down to Ilsenburg. About this tour, Heinrich Heine – who was this young man – wrote one year later his famous „Harzreise,“ which is still the most popular book about the Harz area.
Erwin Klein followed in the footsteps of Heinrich Heine this year. He tried to imagine the impressions and little adventures of Heine throughout his way, and he recognized that big parts of that region still look the same as they did in 1824 – including the disappearance of a huge number of trees.
